Natural Skin Care and Hair Care with Essential Oils

I taught a class last night on Skin Care and had the best time getting ready for it. Learned so much I had no idea. Some of the things I learned were a bit disturbing. I want to share all of this with you. But 1st I want to make it perfectly clear I am never going to tell you, you have to go 100% natural. This face will always have makeup on it. It’s who I am. I go as natural as possible every day and research what I wear but I will never preach or be perfect myself. But I believe knowledge is power and the more I learn the more I like the changes I am making. Also the money I am saving (this is HUGE!).

Let’s start with just some facts…..

90% of products have artificial fragrances. Those artificial fragrances can include any of 3000 synthetic chemicals. These can cause depression, hyperactivity, and irritability.

81% of body care products labeled “gentle” and “Hypoallergenic” contain ingredients proven to irritate skin, eyes, and allergies.

More than 500 products sold in the US contain ingredients BANNED in Japan, Canada and Europe.

Alright let us get to the FUN stuff!

1st lets talk about carrier oils.

Doterra Essential oils are 100% pure they are very concentrated and 1 or 2 drops will go a long way. We highly recommend you add a carrier oil to prevent any reactions. A mix if you are using drops is 2 to 3 to a teaspoon of carrier oil. When making 10 ML bottles on average 20 to 30 drops of EO and fill with a carrier. Here are some suggested carrier oils

Sugar and Salt scrubs.

I always feel so great after I use a sugar scrub on my face or a salt scrub on my body.

The difference in salt and sugar is just the texture. You can use either one. I buy super fine sugar for my face scrubs and Pink Himalayan salt for by body scrubs. Be sure to look at the grain some are very grainy which is a little harsher on the skin. Choose what you feel your skin needs.

My generic body scrub

1 cup sea salt (there are many different kinds) I use Pink Himalayan and I get it at Ross.

Carrier oil of your choice (See above) I use FCO I love it for my skin. I make sure it is every wet usually 1/2 cup or more.

5 to 8 drops total of your essential oils choice. See below for your skin type or just choose your favorite oils.

I love grapefruit and lemon. Zedocrine and Ylang Ylang. Mix and match or choose one.

My Generic face scrub:

1 cup superfine sugar

1/2 cup (or more) grape seed oil. (I love grape seed on my face you may choose another)

3 to 6 drops EO of your choice. (See charts below for your skin type)

Always store your products in glass jars. I buy mason jars in all sizes.

Essential Oils for all skin types

Facial Toner:

1 TBS apple cider vinegar

2 TBS water ( more for sensitive skin)

4 drops essential oil (see skin types above)

Put in small glass spray bottle, shake and mist onto clean face

Body Lotions or creams

I am a little lazy here and you can find plenty of lotion recipes on the web. But I use any unscented dry skin ( I love on CO) with the smallest amount of ingredients (I look for lotions that have ingredients I recognize)

I mix 1 cup with 8 to 10 drops of my favorite oils. Once again you can use charts above.

Your eyes give away how you are feeling in moments.
