“I’m Lazy”…… Just another untrue excuse.

STOP saying You are LAZY!
Being a Health and Wellness coach for more than 20 years I have heard ALL the excuses. All the reasons why you don’t do the work, put in the effort, but being Lazy is #1. When I ask people why they don’t exercise, plan, prep, track (the list is long) they have a tendency to say they are LAZY! Guess what I HATE that answer. It is not acceptable, it is not true. No one I know is truly LAZY. I see people do amazing things when they want too. If you want it you will do whatever it takes to get it. Whatever your “it” is. But when it comes to doing the work to live a healthy lifestyle everyone thinks they are LAZY!
Stop just Stop 🛑
Come at it a different way. Think about what you need to do to eat Healthy, lose weight, be more active and asked yourself what is standing in your way? What is making this so hard for you? How can you make this easier for you? There is NO right answer here but “being lazy” is the WRONG answer.
Everyone is Different
One of the hardest things about healthy lifestyles is there is no one shoe fits all. So this often makes us feel discouraged or like a failure, if we see one person do it and be successful and that way did not work for us. Rather than look for a way it will work for us, we just assume we are not every going to be successful. You have to find your way and make it stick.
If you have ever been successful at weight loss
Look back at the times you were successful. What did you do well? What did you struggle with? Those things you did well and are no longer doing, you need to figure out why you quit? Did they no longer work? Can you pinpoint when you stopped doing them? Is there a way you can make them easier for you?
Example: food prep maybe you don’t love chopping and cooking. What kinds of things delegate or could you spend a little extra money on so you can have all that done for you? Spending a little might save you money on the long run and also take care of a lot of waste.
Do you want to lose weight or don’t you?
Do you want to live a healthy lifestyle or don’t you?
Take the time to figure out what is holding you back?
Not a strong enough reason to get healthy? Make a list of what you don’t want!
Hate to prep: delegate, buy prepped, do it once for the whole week
Not a good tracker: find a new easier way
Hate to exercise: look for something you like to do and figure out how to make it active. Chase the sunsets: go for a walk at dusk and look for sunsets. Love to dance but think you need a class TURN up the music and just do it. Start small and have fun!
