What Does Your Calendar Say You Value?

Take a moment and answer these questions.

What matters most to you?

Most people answer pretty quickly.

"My health."

"My family."

"My faith."

"My relationships."

"My sleep."

"My peace."

Those are wonderful answers.

Now...

Open your calendar.

Not the one in your head.

The real one.

The one on your phone.

The planner on your desk.

The appointments you actually keep.

Because here's a truth that stopped me in my tracks one day.

Your calendar tells a story.

And sometimes...

It tells a different story than the one we're telling ourselves.

We Schedule What We Believe Is Important

Think about it.

If you have a doctor's appointment at 2:00, you show up.

If your child has a game, you rearrange your day.

If you have an important work meeting, you're there.

Those things are on your calendar because you've decided they're important.

But what about your health?

Does your calendar have time blocked for a walk?

Strength training?

Meal planning?

Preparing healthy food?

Stretching?

Reading?

Quiet time?

Getting enough sleep?

Or are those the things you squeeze in...

If there's any time left?

One Day I Had to Ask Myself...

Years ago, I realized something.

I kept saying my health was one of my top priorities.

But I wasn't treating it that way.

Everything else came first.

Work.

Errands.

Cleaning the house.

Helping everyone else.

Then, if I had a little energy left over, maybe I'd take a walk.

Maybe.

That wasn't because I didn't care about my health.

It was because I hadn't intentionally made room for it.

There's a big difference.

Your Calendar Never Lies

Your calendar doesn't judge you.

It simply reflects your choices.

If every hour is spoken for except your own well-being, eventually your body starts asking for attention in ways you can't ignore.

Low energy.

Weight gain.

Stress.

Poor sleep.

Aches and pains.

We often think those things happened overnight.

They usually didn't.

They happened one busy day at a time.

Make an Appointment With Yourself

Here's something I encourage many of my clients to do.

Start scheduling your health like you would any other important appointment.

Walk: Tuesday at 8:00.

Strength training: Thursday at 10:00.

Meal prep: Sunday afternoon.

Stretching: Before bed.

Not because you're trying to create the perfect schedule.

Because you're reminding yourself that you matter too.

If it's on your calendar, you're far more likely to do it.

Stop Saying "If I Have Time"

One of the biggest mindset shifts you can make is changing this sentence:

"If I have time..."

To this:

"I'm making time."

Those are two very different ways of thinking.

One waits for life to slow down.

The other decides what matters before life gets busy.

This Week's Challenge

I want you to do something simple.

Open your calendar.

Look at the next seven days.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Does my calendar reflect the life I'm trying to create?

  • Have I scheduled time to care for myself?

  • If a stranger looked at my calendar, would they know my health is important to me?

  • What is one appointment I can make with myself this week?

Remember...

This isn't about creating guilt.

It's about creating awareness.

Because awareness leads to intention.

And intention leads to change.

Your calendar isn't just keeping track of your days.

It's quietly shaping your future.

So here's my question for you.

What does your calendar say you value?

And more importantly...

Does it tell the story you want it to tell?
